  5. The HCL FORTRAN-77 Compiler accepts the ANSI Standard FORTRAN-77 programs and
  6. generates code for the Intel 80286 and Intel 80386 series of processors.  It
  7. supports the full range of ANSI features with many extensions.  FEATURES:
  8. supports full language ANSI x3.9-1978; Direct Code generation for the
  9. following Numeric coprocessors and the run-time library:  Intel-80387,
  10. Intel-80287, Weitek-3167; supports the following data types:  integer*1,
  11. integer*2, integer*4, real double precision, logical*1, logical*2, logical*4,
  12. complex, character*N; enhanced I/O support for Indexed File Handling, octal
  13. and hexadecimal format descriptors; parameter passing conventions are like in
  14. C; hence direct calling of subroutines coded in C, assembly language and HCL
  15. Pascal languages; supports different memory models under 80286-based machines.
  16. The Compiler system has a global optimizer handling various optimizations like
  17. constant folding, common subexpression elimination, loop-invariant code
  18. movement, redundant code elimination, register variable assignment etc.
  19. ARCHITECTURE:  HCL FORTRAN-77/386 compiler is a two-pass compiler with an
  20. optional pass for global optimizations.  The compiler can run under the
  21. following operating systems:  Microsoft XENIX-286, SCO XENIX-286 or -386, and
  22. HICIX-386 (HCL UNIX on PC-AT 386 compatibles).
